Third Team suffer heavy defeat to East Ardsley

Defending our title seems to be a much more difficult prospect than was originally hoped as once again the third team struggled against their Sunday league opposition.

It was East Ardsley's first year in the league, but they have come prepared and bowled with vigour and bounce on a good track and batted well. After winning the toss, the East Ardsley skipper elected to bowl and put Spen at the crease. An early quick wicket as Matthew Green was bowled set the tone for the innings.

Batsmen came and went, the only real resistance coming from Tom Sharpe who played a fine innings only to be caught trying to push the runs over the 100 mark. Unfortunately Spen finished at 83 all out, giving East Ardsley an easy task to wrap up the match.

And there was little argument as they looked in fine form on a wicket that looked distinctly difficult to play on in the first innings. They reached their target with only one wicket falling pushing Spen further away from the possibility of defending their hard earned crown.
