The match is being played in aid of Andrea's Gift, a charity set up in 2002 by Carol Robertson after her former colleague at Emerald, Andrea Kay died of a brain tumour that year. Since its formation the charity has gone from strength to strength and maintains strong links with cricket. Two of the key contributors and life patrons are former test cricketer Allan Lamb and Sir Ian Botham OBE.

Although the cricket match will be the main event, both companies have invited friends and families as it is hoped plenty of activities will be taking place around the ground, including stalls, tombola, beat the goalie and various other stalls.

There will also be a charity auction, featuring some prestigious items including an England rugby shirt signed by the 2003 World Cup Winning team, a signed Ronaldinho Brazil shirt, a match worn England shirt from the 2006/07 Ashes Series and a bat used by Ian Bell in the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.
